Well, the CTS-V beats the GT500 doesn't it? (this is a legitimate question, now someone can blast me again for not reading the 10 thousandth post) So, with the Z-28 maybe going to be 300lbs less, wouldn't it be natural to assume that it should win?

well it was the millionth time..lol...but yeah the cts-v is right there with, if not a bit faster, than the gt500. So if they can keep the weight in check then it should be faster. There was a post somewhere on this forum where a car magazine posted a video of a new cts-v coupe racing a gt500 and the caddy won that fight.

why is everyone concerned with only 1320 ft? seriously. . .that's not the end all be all of performance. but I guess if you want to quote stats it is. . .

Well car and driver does the lightning lap challenge at VIR and the cts-v did it in 3:04 and a 2008 or so gt500 ran it in 3:05. Now I could have sworn that in the new review of the 2011 gt500 it was mentioned that the new car will lap VIR about 2 seconds faster than the previous model so that puts the gt500 faster than the cts-v around that track. So we will have to see how the z28 will do when it gets released and they run it around the track.

Well, drag strips are a lot more accessible for most people. Plus, generally speaking a 1/4 mile is a 1/4 mile while road course is different.

wow! That is quite an improvement over the older ones. I guess the lighter front end and better turn in that the magazines were raving about were justified. Now i hope the camaro can at least match that

AAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! !

The suspense is killing me.

My pride and joy is scattered all over, waiting to be transformed into a growling, Pony-Eating Beast.

Come ON, GM guys. Give us something meaty to chew on until we can order.

yes but not as easily accessible as good curvy roads. especially if you live near the mountains. some good spirited driving (not racing) is more fun then racing the 1320. yes I enjoy my passes on it, but I feel it's a lot of build up for a short run. and you do it as many times as I did in one day (50 passes). . .you end up blowing your motor.

and they are closed minded performance enthusiasts.

I ask other performance numbers on top of the 1/4 mile. if you've ever raced the 1/4 mile and haven't felt like it was too short of an adrenaline kick then you don't know what real racing is. I wish I could describe the act of drag racing on this forum the way it really is. but I'm afraid the kids and some parents would get offended. but it's a fact.

you have a ton of build up to the point you line up in the lanes, waiting in the lanes, finally you get waved forward to the burn out box. (if you're like me) roll in to the water box inch fwd out of it, engage your line lock, rev the engine and dump the clutch. get a good burn out. disengage the line lock inch fwd to the pre-stage, wait on the other individual to pre-stage, then play staging games. once you stage you either have .5 or less to rev the engine to launch rpm, drop the clutch and go. and if you're running in a real car you will be doing it in 12.5's or less.

12.5 seconds? seriously if you lasted that long with a woman she'd kill you. so much build up for so little racing. yea it's cool to quote numbers and I say it's good to have at least taken it to the track and found out what you're capable of in the car. But serious drag racing takes too much time with so little racing.

You don't know what you're talking about, obviously. The 2011's track time of 2:58s is right up there with the Z06 and 6s faster than an all-wheel-drive CTS-V. No other company has managed to make a 2-wheel-drive car over 3800lbs go that fast. All cars 3800lbs or heavier getting those times are all AWD.

Do you really think GM knows how to make a 4000lb Z/28 faster than the AWD CTS-V and as fast as a 3175lb Z06? I didn't think so. Ford's achievement is magical because when you look at it, it sounds impossible.

the cts-v is not all wheel drive. Never has been and never will be.
