The vette has a huge weight advantage and an aerodynamic advantage. The LS3 may have more power, but the vette will win. If you want to show him up, you'll need some mods.

The Camaro has ALWAYS been known as the "Poor Man's Corvette". Nothing new there.
As for the race, the Corvette will win. If both cars are driven perfectly, the Corvette will slowly pull away from you.

My 06 LS2 mn6 vette that I owned before my 08 ran a best of 12.6 completely stock, of course my 08 LS3 A6 Vette bested that easily and went 11.8 completely stock. My L99 Camaro went 13.03 bonestock. I tend to get the most out of them so I may not be the best comparrison. But thats how the 3 cars played out at the same track over different years and of course DA`s would have been different.

Power to weight... you don't have a chance in hell. If you can jump him off the line you might have a chance.

My first time running at Qualcomm, I ran a stock '07 Z06. I had full bolt-ons, tune and L99 -LS3 conversion with a mild blower cam.(no blower) He walked all over me and then came back for seconds.

Well if its a z51, w/ the npp exhaust, lower rear gears which come w/ the z51 and you opt for the lighter weight interior 1LT package, 1/4 tank of gas, plus run in negative 700 DA air it will run 11`s with good track prep..lol... there is a reason I`m still number 2 on the bonestock fastest list on the corvette forum after 2 years...lol.. 11.80 at almost 119

LS2 vettes have gone very high 11's bone stock and stock tires according to the last fast list I have checked. LS3 is a best of 11.7 bone stock and stock tires I believe.
I have personally raced a stock 2005 auto vert with no performance options and beat it pretty badly. You car is pretty much stock....everything being equal (driver etc)...I cant see you winning. It wont be a murder...I would think hes got you for sure though. But obviously anything can happen. |

oh i hear ya. my buddy had a 2010 Camaro with a turboed LSX(1000rwhp) in it and we both agree that his 09 Z06 with a cam(550rwhp) is faster than the camaro hands down. that will happen when the vette weighs almost 1000lbs lighter than the camaro:(

Rule of thumb is about ~10-15hp for every 100lbs. An extra 450 horsepower will EASILY make up for 800 lbs with room to spare. Though the zo6 could still be faster at the track if set up better etc etc. |

A z06 with a cam is high 10 car. If a 1000 whp 5th gen can at least get in to the bottom 10's then there is a big problem.

i have driven both, the vette is faster because all the camaro does is spin even with 11.5" rears. he Z06 plants better and doesnt not spin hardly.
power without control is nothing.... |

A z06 with a cam is a solid mid 10 car if it hooks. Mine up at 7000-8000 DA runs bottom 11s.
Unless it is an auto with crappy gearing I would put my money on the vette. Even more so if it is a z51 with the more agressive gearing.
