Anyone With PD Blower & Aeroforce Gauge re:knock retard under load?

Anyone out there drive around with the knock sensor reading displayed and notice the car pull timing if the motor lugs at all? i.e. cruise set at hwy speed in top gear and you come to a small incline/hill. I've seen mine spike to 15 degrees but typically 6-8 gets pulled with a moderate lugging.

Did you have the gauge in before blower install and did you happen to notice if the car pulled timing as a stock vehicle? I've only had mine in since the blower has been on and am curious. I can if I have to pull my gauge out and throw it in a buddy's stock camaro to see if it does this as well totally stock.

Maybe this is normal, and maybe someone can pipe up if they have some insight to it anyway. Under full throttle pulls it doesn't seem to pull any, or at least very little anyway. Only see this under a lug, which is say,,, 2300-2400 and underish. And I notice the a/f drop a bit at the same time when lugging if that is of help.

Edit: This is on a 91 octane tune but I had 92 in tank (which may explain why it was mostly pulling 6-8 recently as the several tanks of 92 ran through system).

Thanks for any input.

Not normal. Get your tune adjusted.

I think it's normal and wouldn't worry about it.

My real world experience says it's ok. I have the same guages and I wouldn't worry because the timing never stays at one reading per the Aeroforce Gauge. I know mine is tuned properly.

Timing going down is completely normal. 6-8 degrees of knock retard is not normal. What are you watching? If your timing is going from 15 to 8 then that could be fine. If you are watching KR and it goes from 0 to 8 while going up a hill, not normal.

This is essentially the same as what I was asking. I may not be understanding one part though: isn't going from 15 to 8 degrees (dropping 7 degrees) the same as saying KR pulled 7 degrees out?

No. If your timing map is set to go from 15 to 8, that is normal. If your knock sensors are going off and pulling 8 degrees of timing, that is not. Having less timing at high loads is completely normal. Having the knock sensors go crazy and pull timing because the car is knocking is not.

ahhhh, right, I see what your saying.

I'm about to make a change that will require a new tune so I'll get the tuner to address this on the change. See what happens.
