That's exactly how I felt!!!
Thanks!!! Our parts guy told me that he had 15 dealers calling him trying to snatch up my harness. I'm so glad he held onto it for me

It works like a champ!!! The only thing that does concern me, however, is that the volume down button seems to stick a bit. All the other buttons seem to press smoothly. Overall, I'm a happy camper

SO, ALL OF YOU GUYS WHO ADDED THESE TO YOUR 1SS, DID YOU HAVE TO PAY SOME RIDICULOUS $50 FEE TO "PROGRAM" THEM, OR DO THEY PLUG&PLAY?

It needs to be programmed by a dealer.

The $50 I was charged was for the program downloaded from Chevrolet Techline. This was a fee that the techline charges the dealership ( i was told). Then I was charged for the time it took for the tech to install the program into my BCM.

Thats correct the dealership is charged 50 dollars by techline for the program and then you will have to pay the tech to install the new program in your bcm. If you are lucky the dealer will charge you the 50 and not mark it up. Some dealers will try and mark this fee up and tell you it was more in your area. not true gm charges 50 dollars for a program like this to every dealer no matter where. The only extra cost is the technician that programs it and how much they charge. honestly whatever their labor rate is per hour is about what it should be an hour is fair for both sides. It is kind of a headache to call in and deal with techline assistance sometimes and if the tech does it right it should take about an hour total to call and install

techsupport... any chance you can get your hands on the print for the steering wheel harness for this mod? This backorder business is simply ridiculous. It doesn't take 2 months to build a simple cable harness like the one we're needing. If I can get that print I can get the connectors and pins and just build it myself as well as some extras for some of you here. If you can't get the print I may have another option but, figured I'd check with you first.
thanks |
