So... 19x12 will work.... but 20x12 will not?
I'm curious if someone has a cut or pictures showing why this is the case. I'd like to see what changes going from a 19x12 to a 20x12 inch wheel that prevents it from being run. Thanks for any help!

Not that I'm aware of any similar issues, but for example a Cayman GT4 if you run a 19" wheel the maximum rear wheel size is 10.5" due to the toe link on the rear, but if you were to run a 20" wheel, that barrel size gives enough clearance to the toe link to use a 20x11" wide wheel.
I'm not aware of any issue like this on the Camaro though... Anyone who says a 12" wide wheel actually 'fits' on this car is bending the truth though. Widest recommendation we give is a 11" wide wheel on this car. Any size larger than 11" without modifications done to the car to accommodate, will cause the wheels to poke outside the fenders. |

We haven't yet seen a local ZL1 1LE to laser 3D Scan yet (yes we 3D scan every car so that we can determine our fitment instead of taking measurements by the old school way), so I can't compare and contrast with the info I have, but I'm sure a combination of things allows GM to run a wider wheel. Even an offset coilover system that gives more clearance for the wheel could give us an extra inch of room, it just depends on all the variables, not just the fenders.
If anyone local to San Diego, CA wants to allow us to scan their car, we'd get to the bottom of it and verify the differences. |

The z28 wheels are 19x12 as well, aren't they?

You need to have the right offset and back spacing. You need the right wheel company maybe hre, adv1, or edc

19x12 and 20x12 can be done
I have done multiple setups using a 19x11 to 12" rear This can be done on a 20" also. |

Did the place that told you this happen to be out of 20 x 12 wheels and/or extra sets of 19x12's?
