make sure your tires are properly inflated, dont get stuck in traffic, dont do over 75mph, keep rpms under 3,000.

Use premium fuel and do the fuse pull to get the ECU out of the low octaine tables will help, but a "economy tune" can get you 2-4 mpg plus improvement. The Vmax CNC TB will also help.

i have actually never owned a car (LS1 included) that has suffered more in terms of mpg depending on throttle level. i know it sounds crazy but i really don't think driving your car harder means it uses all that much more gas. after all you are going further faster. the only time i believe it has an impact is at constant high rpms. so if you're going 100mph and at 3k rpm's, that'll eat up the gas pretty quickly. otherwise i think a good majority of it is just urban legend.
i think things like AC, idling, and slow speeds contribute to bad mpg more than anything. i usually reset my average speed and average mpg both before i fill up. i generally have an average speed well under 30mph, usually around 25mph. |

I put a k&n typoon on mine and it gave 3 mpg better not mention the roar when you pun h it. But then punching it has negative mpg éffect. But it sure sounds wicked

Take it easy on the gas and only run 91 and do the fuse pull like sc2150 said. Not sure how you are getting that low. We drive more of less the same freeways and I am getting 27 with out traffic, 16-17 on the street.

...you'd be handing in your man card.
If you have an LS3 and your MPG sucks that much...you're either doing a LOT of city/stop and go driving...or running crappy fuel and the car isn't running the right spark advance. Most "bolt on" mods don't actually have THAT much of a change...my car got 21 mpg average on my commute to the office when it was stock...with a Vararam, a tune, Kooks 1.875's and 3" full exhaust...it still gets 21 mpg average on the same commute...which is 99% 75 mph through New England hills on cruise control...it is what it is. ...for what it's worth, I reset my average speed one time, when I got the car. I've put 31K miles on it (the original owner did just under 7K) and my average speed is 51 mph...once in a while I'm in the city, but for the most part, I just get to the highway, and go.

If you have to drive the SS I'd keep it under 70 on the highway. |

When I was completely stock for the first 850 miles, on the highway according to the computer if I kept it at 60 MPH I would hit 30 MPG. Anything above 65 MPH mileage started to drop significantly. And having any city traffic I drop to the low 20's.
Adding headers and cats recently dropped me a couple of MPG. I can still get low 20's in 40-45 MPH city traffic (lights every mile or so) by shifting quickly and getting into 6th gear and letting the Prius' pass me by. That's the advantage of the manual.

My commute takes me 45 minutes to travel 18miles...it's all stop and go. I average about 16mpg. I miss my last job where I only had to travel 5 miles to get to work. If I were you, I would just get a 4 cylinder beater....or a bike....the kind with a motor.

If you're traveling 100 miles per trip, i'd HIGHLY suggest a 4cyl beater. It will save you a TON of $$ in the long run.

Small precise throttle movements; like an egg is under the pedal. Accelerate on downhills, hold steady uphills, basically hypermileing. Push the clutch in and neutral when approaching a stop and coast as far as possible using as little brakes as possible. It is BORING to drive that way though and ANNOYING as hell for those around you. You must have a lot of city driving to be at 15 though. What is your average mph? Do the fuse pull and premium fuel and watch how much throttle you use. If that doesn't help, then maybe a new daily driver is what you need.
Keep in mind a 5mpg increase for your monthly mileage would pay you back $100 plus each month. I drive 2000 miles a month too and I average about 22 mpg versus my old trucks 14 and I've been saving $175 per month.
