1500 miles on mine and getting 13-14 in solid stop and go, 8 miles one way,20 lights and stops so not good for mpg. My v6 with intake and exhaust mods and broken in did only 16 in the same commute. bout 2 mpg difference bewteen the two excpt freeway v6 about 4-5 more. Yeah a 4 banger to save gas on your drive probably best, but you have to be doing some freeway? should be better then 15.

I'm just down the street from you off of Huntington. I'm glad I get reimbursed for the mileage I put on my car, now matter how lousy my MPGs are always seem to come out ahead

I drive about 13 miles round-trip to work and back and it's all stop-n-go city driving. I got a little Toyota Yaris with 5-speed for a commuter car which gets about 30mpg for me and uses regular gas. As much as I love my Camaro, driving the Toyota to work and back saves a good amount of money each month on gas alone. I gas-up once a month which is about 10 gallons so I'm spending around $36 a month on gas. Filling up the Camaro costs about $70 and I can go through that in a week; I'm getting about 16 around town.
So spending $36 a month instead of $280 (or more) eases the difference between driving the Camaro (fun) and the Toyota (under-powered toy car). I'm saving almost $3,000 a year on gas alone, which is money I can spend on modding the Camaro. Plus the insurance is cheaper for the Camaro since it's not a daily driver. And I don't have to worry about my Camaro getting door-dinged, weather-beaten and bird-decorated while I'm at work. All the tricks you have to go through to get the Camaro's around-town mileage up make it not worth it; the Camaro is meant to be driven, not babied from traffic light to traffic light. If you're going to drive it like that, get an inexpensive, high-mileage econo-car for your daily commute and use the gas money you save for Camaro mods.

I get decent milage, around 19-20 mpg for all around driving with alot of add ons, around 550 rwhp.
I do not drive my camaro from Dec to around April. Over those months I had to drive my 2004 gmc duramax. I commute around 100 miles daily and the first year I averaged $500 in fuel charges. The early spring of 2011, I went to my dealer who I had purchase my 2010 SS from and he told me about the new 2011 chevy cruze. I was hooked. I got the base model which is still loaded with a lot of nice features in black. the first month, it cost me $445 in total cost including the cruze payment and all fuel cost. It also saved on miles on my camaro during the summer. I will admit that it costs me around $100 a month in the summer paying for the cruze and fuel compared to just the camaro but again it saves miles on the camaro and over the winter it makes up for it. Plus in 3 years when the cruze is paid off it will really be paying for itself. Just what I did and it was a great choice for me. it also allowed me to list my camaro as a limited driver with my insurance which saved me some on insurance as well. Corse, it also left me no reason NOT to build up my camaros performance levels which did not do much for SAVING money but it sure makes the camaro fun to drive!!!

Cheaper to buy an economy car and drive it daily then pay all the extra for gas. It will pay for itself in less then a year. My saturn sure did, AND it keeps miles/weather off the camaro. I found after I got it, that I enjoyed my time with the camaro even more. Win/win.
