Check engine light

My car has the check engine light on and I want to get it turned off. I installed ARH and CAI right after I got it and the light has been all the time since. I don't want to take it all off to get the light out. I'm going to sell or trade the car off and I don't want the light on. Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

Might be your 02 sensor bank 2. Rear sensors. Just have the car tuned and you'll love the way it runs and wont want to sell it

You need to read out the codes stored in the ECM. Obviously one or more of the codes causing the CEL is related to the exhaust and CAI installation. The other issue is because you have driven the car so long with the CEL lighted, you don't know if there are other problems that need to be corrected. Again, first step is to get the codes read so you know what your dealing with. Post up the codes when you get them.

If its a 01/01 sensor or a 02/01 sensor the issue is before the CATs. Not to worry though, hopefully. Chances are that the sensor(s) have gone bad due to the burn off of residure inside the headers during their initial firing. In other words, the residue that the headers had inside them for storage/shipping burnt off and coated the sensor tips. Try replacing them and you might be surprised to find that you can keep all of the emissions working properly, especially if they are checked in Washington!

If it is a xx/02 sensor it is after the CATS and, as stated above, you can tune them out as they do not have anything to do with the fuel/O2 mixture by the computer. It only reads the input for adjustments from the front O2 sensors.

Needs a tune/tuner. I had a customer complain about the same thing. Had a shop do the headers and the light was on right after.Came to us a month later and on our first scan we found the pass. side 02 was junk from them torching it out of the old exhaust. That month he waited was gas washing the pass. side of the motor.

I had same issue when I installed at cai, set of clear image long tubes and high flow cats....I tried the low-tech method and disconnected the battery at the positive terminal under the hood after I drove about 100 miles to see if the ecu would "learn" the changes, it didn't work. I then disconnected the battery in the trunk and after only 5 minutes reconnected it. The light went off, have not seen it since (about another 100 miles). I have done both normal driving and hard pulls to about 6100 rpm and so far, so good....

installed my Volant cai last week. Then it snowed so I didn't get a chance to drive much since the night i installed it. Drove today finally and my CEL came on. Checked all connections and it seems pretty tight. I just unhooked my battery and I'll let you know in a half hour or so if that made the light disappear.

If it went away with out someone using a scanner/OBDII Diag tool etc, it is still in memory in your ECU...have someone check it and see what CEL code you got and if its no biggy, have it cleared from memory.

I do believe this is the P1153 CEL code, correct?

For the OP, this code will need to be tuned out, and is the common CEL after headers/hi flos/CAI...(right?)

does having the rear bank cel due to long tube cause your car to run any different than if u was to tune it out? im asking because some say that its only a light and some say that your car will run rougher and slower.
I've been running with my cel for about a month but the only thing i notice is my car idling a little louder and rougher but i might just be hearing my long tube and no cats
