Avalanche or SS

I can't believe I've even come to this point. I test drove a 2008 Avalanche LT w/2LT package, and then took it home for a day, and I really liked it! The midgate transformation was nice, and quite useful, and the truck overall was very functional with a great ride. So I'm thinking, do I want functional (the Avalanche) or just plain fun (Camaro)? If anyone has any thoughts (or encouragement to go in the right direction), I'd be interested to hear. I don't know what to do!

Fun all the way unless you absolutely NEED the truck. I went from a sports car to a f150 supercrew...and my truck is awesome....but I miss the FUN of driving. Once the new wears off the avalanche....thats it. With the camaro, as with most sports cars, it will be fun to drive.

well do you really need the truck or is it something that is needed if you just like it and don't need it wait for the camaro, i went from a nice car to a truck so now i am getting a camaro and keeping the truck it all comes down to needs and wants just my two cents.

I have a 07 Avy-LTZ. I was very hesitant about it at first but absolutely love it now. I bought it in July 2007, have about 9100 miles on it now. During the summer, I have 24" rims and then switch back to the factory 20" for the winter.

I got mine with the 6.0L....the 5.3L just didn't do it for me. I average 15/20mpg city/highway respectively.

I couldn't be more happy with it... The only reason I'm trading it in for the Camaro is that I no longer need the truck. All of the renovations in the house are done and if I need a truck, I can borrow one from work for the weekend.

I recommend the Av to anybody looking to buy a truck. The only problem I have run into is the bed supports (they cause a nasty blindspot)...also...taller objects didn't fit due to them. (When picking up our furniture...the height from the bed to the bottom of that support was too short).

The drive, comfort, and power are all great though (not too shabby on gas mileage either with the AFM).

My father is a test driver for GM and he's always raved about the Avalanche. He wants one really bad... He also wants a Camaro too, how ironic?

Depends on what you need. If you're looking for a daily driver and need practicality over anything else, then the Avalanche is what you should be looking into.

If you really don't need anything too practical (although the Camaro does have a back seat and a decently sized trunk) so for someone like me the Camaro would be just enough. Definitely get the Camaro.

I wanted a Camaro SS or a Camaro 2LT w RS, or a 350Z or something that's a 2dr coupe, but heck I never thought I'd so something in my life like want a TrailBlazer SS due to needing something more practical seeing that it will be my only car... But still fun and capable of doing some burn outs... hehe...

Depends really. The Avalanche is a great truck, lots of interior space with decent cargo room and towing capabilities. Plus, the 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 is FlexFuel capable. If you need stuff like that, then you should definitely get it.

I've always wanted an Avalanche myself...still waiting for GM to stick the 4.5L or 6.6L Duramax Diesel in it.

if you are going to buy right away get an avalanche, you will help GM in the short run, if your waiting anyways buy the camaro...

I currently am driving a 06 Avalanche. Great truck. Will be getting a Camaro about mid year 09. Not geting rid of the Avalanche. Giving it to the wife and trading her korean turd in. She is almost as excited about getting the Avalanche as I am about the Camaro. I do have to add that many times at the home improvement stores when I am loaing up lumber or such I always get the looks from the workers, "thats not gonna fit" or " how are you going to put this in that" With the midgate down I have stuck 10 ft boards in comfortably and 16 ft boards hangin out. I have bought chester drawers and ft them under the cover without problems. My "friend" rags on it because its "not a truck", but I always say it works like one.

As an owner of a 2002 Avalanche since 2001, I must say the Avalanche is pretty much the most versatile vehicle you could ever own. You want to throw a bunch of people in the back comfortably? Plenty of room. You want to get a load of gravel? Take off the taneau covers and load it up. I went from a Silverado extended cab to the Avalanche because there just wasnt enough room for car seats in the Silverado. I'm going to run my Avalanche into the ground, and I would most definately buy another one when she dies.

That being said, I'll be getting my Camaro for the summer, and haul the Av out for our wonderful Wisconsin winters.

So to answer your question. Get an Avalanche for the winter, and a Camaro for the summer.
