My 1LE came with a tag around the shifter saying not to go through car washes. I couldnt imagine taking my 1LE though one of those anyway let alone a ZL1!

Did you go for the separate Tire & Wheel Warranty? I forked out the extra cash. Nail in my tire w/600 miles, and then they damaged the rim while changing out the tire. Took months to get the new rim, but it didn't cost me a dime. Not sure they would cover the rim under this circumstance/damage but it would be worth a shot. I'll look at the paperwork to see what damage is covered for the rim. Not sure when you purchased the car, but I think you have several weeks to still get the warranty.

This is why I'm planning on getting my rims powder coated.

You may have caught the rail in the car wash especially if its not a touchless car wash.

Tragic enough, my dealer ran my car through a car wash the day I bought it. He thought he was doing me a favor by giving me a clean car. Fortunately it did no damage and that's the last time it went through that car wash. Now I use a touchless car wash that is excellent as nothing ever touches the car, there is no track, etc.

They told us not to drive them (or 1LEs) through a car wash...because most won't properly fit these wide wheels/tires.

Ouch - that hurts to even look at.....

I've got news for you... you can curb a powder coated wheel just as easily as a painted one, it just takes a bigger chunk of finish off.

Same here bro. Neither vehicle would go through one of those.
I use the touchless car wash for the daily driver during the winter months and the toy does not go out during the winter. When the weather cooperates, I always hand wash and detail the daily driver.

I never take my significant others to the car wash. For a dd (during the winter) then ok, but never would I do it for my other cars.
