An effective mod???
Since the new hoods are effective for engine bay cooling, was thinking how to get a little more cooling on my '11 ss ; so I took off the rear hood seal, just pull's right off, now I have a 3/8" space between hood & cowl, has anybody tried this for better cooling ? Can't see why this wouldn't work a little, cool in from front & heat out the rear!

No, there is an almost a 1" high ridge that the rubber seal sat on, all the way over to each fender where the water would have to run to, then down on the inner fender & to the ground. Thanks for the heads up, I didn't think of that about the water till I checked it out.

It also dumps the hot air straight into the suction for the cabin vent and a/c.

It wouldn't be any different than a larger cowl, would it?

At speed, the base of the windshield is a high-pressure zone, hence the effectiveness of cowl-induction.
I'm not sure how much flow-through venting you're going to get under those conditions. At lower speeds, probably yes. At higher speeds, I think that "outflow" turns into an "inflow." How that will affect the cooling, I don't know. If it was that simple and effective of a fix (and could save GM money by not putting the seals in place on every car), don't you think they would have done it?
