I just wonder what the lap time would have been with an automatic .
When we first heard about the ZL1 I was guessing around 49k, but it looks like that aint gonna happen. Figuring around 52k+ for the base price then adding on options could add as much as 4k or more then tax. Good thing I started saving earlier this year, almost have the house paid off, and have my other two cars paid off in full. Ok I'm ready gulp whats the price going to be?

I can't believe you care. Some people hurt or lost their left leg and are still as much of an enthusiast as you. Some soldiers who defended your life and lost a leg might want to enjoy the luxury of having a ZL1. Or anyone born with a weak right leg or developed issues. The original ZL1 came with an auto option why shouldn't this one if you don't care about others who aren't able to
It is like when people complain about V6s. Without v6 sales the v8 wouldn't here Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk |

I think that comment was meant to be positive, not negative, like hes excited to have that option. That's the feeling I got anyway.

Congratulations - GM's ZL1 team.
I'm impressed. You know we need those 1/4 and 0-60 times. |

Price
That is an amazing time but there's no way the ZL1 will be priced at $48K now (not that I wouldn't want it to be). The 69 ZL1 was a $4,160 option ($25K option adjusted for inflation). With the proven performance you get I don't think GM will have any problems selling these for $55-60K including destination and GG tax. That does get close to a no options added CTS-V ($64.5K) and it's a little over a GT500 ($53.6K with SVT performance package) but it's faster. Unfortunately I think dealers will be able to sell them for over MSRP for the first year at least because of demand. People are paying on average $1K over sticker for 2012 GT500s which would put one with options closer to $55K out the door if you were to buy it today (check out www.truecar.com if you don't believe me). On the plus side I think the base ZL1 will have a lot of standard features just like the CTS-V and the options list will be very sparse (likely just sunroof, automatic, Recaro seats?). The ZL1 is a crazy faster car that will be an amazing value for performance and anyone who can afford it is a luckily individual. However, I'm personally good with my $34K 2012 2SS that I can slowly mod to my liking but kudos to GM for even building a car like the ZL1.

I don't care how much it costs, I will only buy it if it has this paint option on it:

This is awesome news for GM. I'd like to know what tires were used and if this indeed is a production ZL1. My prediction for 0-60 is 3.6 seconds.

Now I can tell my wife "but it lapped The Ring" in 7:41" and she'll be like "why didn't you say so, sure we have four little kids and it snows a lot here in the Northeast during the winter, but since it can lap Th Ring in a time like that, lets trade in the minivan and get two"..... Way to go GM!!!
