I haven't installed my plenum spacer yet- long story, but just haven't had a chance.

Anyway, my take on Steve's directions is to skip the stock "X-gasket" and just go with gasket maker. But I'm not sure and just expect to give it a good look, and figure it out when I get there.

I'm thinking that the purpose of all these IM mods is to optimize flow (keep it laminar is the term I think engineers use) thru the IM, and that X-gasket looks like it would disrupt flow and increase resistance.

I know most people have re-assembled with the gasket on top with good results, and when I get to that step, I may well do the same.

If you got the 160mm bolts (6.3 inches) when you bought your 25mm, you are good to go.

I got one of the very early 25mm spacers and just had 155mm bolts. I ordered new 160's to handle the additional 12mm of the plenum spacer.

Any high temp paint with the surface properly prepared will work well

as a complete painting novice, what kind of prep would need to be done to the spacer in order to paint the outside edge?

A course scotch-brite (spelling) pad from a local auto store or paint supplier, can be used to prep the surface. Clean with wax and grease remover then paint.

Hope this helps

If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask

Kindest Regards,
Steve

Shot a little VHT white and clear coat on this plenum spacer and blue on the IM...

Guess we'll see how it holds up!

Just waiting for the gasket maker to set up and move to phase II.

Those are spacers. Place them under the plenum lid, to be held in place by the 4 center bolts. Use RTV on both sides to seal. They keep the bolts from distorting the lid when you tighten them down.

Don't let them fall into your IM when you're sliding in the bolts!

A helpful tip is to use the lttle black plastic sleeves in the plenum lid holes to keep them centered until secure.

Thanks ventmaster, unfortuently I think the spacer fell into the block, should I be concerned about it being tough to fish out? I'm really pissed at my self :(

Edit Nevermind I didn't, all is good in the world now lol
