6L80 hp/tq limits, stock & modified

On the 6L80, in stock form what is the hp/tq limit on these things? And, is anyone out there building these trannies to withstand more hp/tq thrown at them (ie, like in a turbo'd application)?

Also, anyone out there doing converters for them yet, like maybe Yank? (are they different than the 4th gen/thm350 pieces)

Yank has TQ's for the Camaro and a few others. I bought the Yank SS3200.

Is the 6L80 similar to the 4L80? Ie, does it take the same parts to upgrade them both? I have a buddy in Michigan that did R&D on transmissions for Borg-Warner (until he was layed off last month) so he knows all the GM trannies in/out and has built race trannies of all breeds on the side for years...

4L80 = 4 speed
6L80 = 6 speed
automatics are automatics. clutch packs, planetary gears, sun gears, etc. there's just more of them in the 6l80 compared to the 4l80.

Lingenfelter is doing their forged 650 HP conversion on my car. I talked to them and they referred me to RPM Transmissions http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/ Lingy is sending my trans to them (auto) for a clutch upgrade. RPM is working on a shaft upgrade but it is still in R&D.

RPM is one of if not THE BEST tranny shops, PERIOD! I would listen to whatever they say, they are a forerunner in tranny performance and do alot of part development in-house...the fact that lingy using them, should be all you need to know.

Bowler is excellent. They are doing a 6L80E right now for an extreme HP application.

Is this not the transmission that they put in the 556 hp CTS-V?

Ok, car is headed back to Chi-town for a 427, and I'm gonna call Yank and see about a converter...looking at somewhere around 500-ish rwhp when it's all said & done...will the tranny & rear live at that level, with an occasional romp on drag radials?
