I was on my way home in the Camaro yesterday and decided to stop for lunch at In 'n Out. It was crowded as usual, both in n' out, so I had my Double Double in the car. Everybody coming and going notices, right? A man and his family pulls up in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. He almost immediately notices the Inferno Orange Metallic sculpture-piece sitting in the parking lot, comes over, looks at the SS badge on the front, and the conversation goes something like this:

Him: "Nice car! Z'at a stick?"

Me: "No, it's an automatic."

The excitement in his eyes is betrayed by the look of disappointment along with a disapproving headshake.

Him: "'Fit's an SS it's gotta be a stick." (Really, why does it have to be a stick?)

Me: "Nah, she's plenty fast."

Him (doubtfully and walking away): Mmmbut all that power with just an automatic..."

Well, whatever.

I'm not disappointed with it in the least. It is fast, it still gets the looks, the points, and the double-takes of everything on the road right now. It IS a Camaro.

Alot of it comes from the belief you must have a manual muscle car..

Just mention to him that your Camaro is faster than he could ever possibly shift, and looks better too.

I have had both sticks and automatics over the years and all I can say is that I ordered mine with the auto and I have beat a couple sticks already.

Living in California its pretty hard to drive a stick when traffic moves 5 mph and stops every 5 seconds. Remember he driving a Monte Carlo and you got a Camaro

Yup and almost every Stang Bee Bee has eaten was a stick. Funny how they do not know how to shift gears or kill it trying to dump the clutch.

I take it that In 'n Out is someplace you go to eat cause I'm thinkin this is a family site, right?

Needless to say, we don't have those in NC (but the name is rather "catchy")..

I'm a stick girl (ya, kinda goes with the In N Out theme)..

But - to each his/her own. It's yours to drive, no one elses. I have a 23 stop light commute - 45 minutes and you won't hear me complain one bit cause I'm having to shift all the time.. Nothing wrong with an automatic - it's all about preference, nothing more. Are you happy? That's all that matters. My two cents.

Hey I would rather see a camaro in an auto then stick if the person cannot drive stick. Automatic is great when it comes to power.
