We would come out there from AZ. I think the first time I went was when I was eight or nine. This is the first time in my life I haven't been able to go. I try to explain it to people out here... There into mudd'n They don't always get it. I tell em it's like ridding a roller coaster that you tell where to go...

Whidbey Island huh, Navy?

Yep, spent 10 years as a Sonar Tech.

I have taken a few sailors out there and they always comeback talking about it for weeks. Most people don't understand how much fun they are.

Cool!

AW - helos on carriers.

TSP baby!!!

I haven't thought about that stuff in years. We had minimal passive capability. We mostly relied on our dipping sonar.

Small world.

I also spent 5 years on a FFG in San Diego. We had done a few exercises with you guys. I was never very good at keeping track of Sonobouys, not enough practice.

I have been out for over 4 years and left the ship almost 8 years ago. I do miss it sometimes, but I don't think my wife could handle being a Navy wife. If all goes well I will be working Civil Service in a couple of months.

I will have been out 6 yrs in June. I miss it a little. Not deployments though.

I miss flying. Better than being stuck on board. IMO.

I never got a chance to fly.

But, we have gotten way off from the original topic, maybe we should start a Veteran Thread.
