Camaro is garbage in the snow!

Now obviously I dont expect it to be great but at least get you around in low snow.

We only have about 3 inches on the roads and my 6 couldnt make it to school at all.

I had to stop on a slight incline and immediately got stuck, couldnt get her going at all and I had to turn around.

Im using stock 1lt rims with stock tires with perfect tread for winter.

shes fine from a roll but any stops at all on any inclines and youre screwed.

im making this thread because ive seen many people say the 6 is great in snow with the stock non pirelli tires.

FALSE! do not take it out unless you have to! you can make it around but any inclines at all will completely kill you.

disclaimer, this is my first manual car so im open to the possibility that maybe im not used to a 6 speed in snow yet. when i got stuck i tried moving the car with just the clutch trying to use as little power as possible and i still got wheel spin.

Doesn't the RS package give you the 20" MS wheels with summer Pirelli tires? If you have this setup, there is your problem. Also, if you get stuck on an incline, try turning off traction control and gun it.

My 6 Sucks in snow also. The answer is Snow tires and sand bags.

said I was on stock 1LTs! and yes i had to turn off traction control to get moving at all but it still didnt do much for inclines. you just start spinning and going side ways.

Sorry...I think it's technique and/or tires here. I have had no problems in 2-6" of snow with my SS. Stock tires aren't snow treads, and that can make a difference. I don't think yours has the summer Pirelli's, but even the other stock tires aren't really very good in the snow.

I drive on Continental Extreme DWS tires, and it's handled beautifully. And, this is Seattle...we have TONS of hills here.

Mine is an auto and it's not a daily driver, but I took it out once in the snow to get my solo HFC put on and it got stuck on packed down snow in the driveway. I have the 21's which makes it worse, but it sucks bad in the snow. I can't see how someone can depend on driving one through the winter, around here at least. Absolutely the worst vehicle in the snow, but since I didn't plan on driving it in the snow anyway, I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

Camaro != Ferrari

I love my Camaro, and treat it well, but c'mon folks...it isn't a 100k car...

doesnt matter how deep the tread is on those all seasons, there not winter rubber. in the cold the all seasons get harder and wont grip opposed to winter rubber which is softer.
dont use any gas when taking off. just clutch out and roll slowly than gass it a bit. my ss/tc has gobs more torque than the v6 maro and i have zero issues in the 5' of snow we get + im lowered 3' off the ground.
if your driving in the winter buy winter tires, and dont cheap out on them.

If we have fresh powder it does OK but as soon as it gets packed in forget it. I had a 95 that did better but it was also a manual trans.

The solution is to get a 4x4 pick-up truck or suv for the snow.
