Fun winter time driving -- A blizzard can't stop me.

Thank you to whomever decided to add the manual shift paddles on the automatic Gen5.

I was driving in Snowmageddon just a little while ago, and the manual shift paddles really help control the car during the snow. I've used them before, but I haven't driven in blizzard like conditions yet in the fifth generation. It is so much better then the 4th generation. Yes, that had a start in 2nd gear button, and I thought that was nice, but the paddles really do make me feel more in control. Plus the car just handles better.

As I was driving, I was seeing other cars and SUV's slide off the road, but I was doing just fine.

My favorite was a blue Corolla that was following me. I noticed he was waving his arms, and honking his horn to get me to drive faster, as he was tailgating my ass. Therefore, I pulled over. I really enjoyed getting the finger from him as he passed by--but not as much as I enjoyed watching him get about 50 yards ahead of me before he lost control and did a 180 and ended up stuck in a ditch on the side of the road.

I was laughing so hard, I almost lost control of my car. But I didn't. A few minor fishtails but the car was always facing the correct direction.

I am impressed, especially since I only have all-season tires, instead of winter tires.

I just spoke to my mom there in Indy and she is all hunkered down. We are getting more snow here in Springfield, about 18 inches by the time it is done. They have already shut down our roads with National Guard stationed at points along the interstates. Plus side is that little rodent (read Groundhog) has no chance of seeing his shadow so we should have an early Spring lol!!! Be safe!!

The Camaro did great coming home tonite (4 - 5 o'clock), alittle fish tailing, but let off the gas and it's fine. Snow tires are great to have when you drive your Camaro, not hide it. Great drive year round!

We have about an inch of ice on the roads around Dallas. I previously read all of these threads saying how bad the 5th gen Camaro was in the snow. I found no difference in driving this car in the snow and ice than any other car I've owned.

nice, my dad was telling me to drive in M mode last night if I had to go anywhere today. Luckily my school sent out a message stating school is canceled today. Don't know whether to be happy or mad though. But for now

omfg i loved that bit about the corolla...

NOTHING gets me more angry when people tailgate in really bad snow. even if im in my truck i stay far back and never try to tailgate slower cars because i know what its like for them.

I'm glad I made it home without any problems, unlike Mr. Corolla. But I won't be driving anytime soon. Bumblebee is just fine, sitting under the massive amount of snow. He is a strong car, has to be, since I don't have a garage for him to sleep in.

My county has a 'no driving' ban in effect until further notice. That's fine, since school's closed today and tomorrow. I'm sure the students are thrilled, but will they be when we have to go to school in June?

At least the internet and T.V. are back on after being off since 7pm last night until noon today.
