My evo's been corner balanced and weighs in at 3428lbs w/ (a 150b driver) or 3278 without the driver, and the HP rating was estimated by Chris Black at AMS during a road tune to be about 380-390 at the wheels (he used dyno simulation software.) Averaged out this comes out to be 385hp. With the 15% added back in for the drivetrain HP loss it should be about 443 at the crank. This means that every 1 HP carries 7.4 lbs (rounded). The Camaro's weight is stated to be 3849--with a crank HP rating of 426. This means that every 1 HP carries 9 lbs (rounded). A difference of 1.6 lbs.

IF you're looking at the wheel HP we're talking 385hp / 3228lb and 362hp / 3849. This is a power to weight ratio of 11.8% for the EVO and 9.4%.for the Camaro. We're talking 2.4% difference here in power to weight. While they're not exactly equal to the decimal...that's pretty damned close and your butt won't notice the difference.

I love my EVO...but I'm not a nut-rider for the EVO cause, and I at least use realistic expectations and factual calculations.

Your last statement I agree with though. I did buy the EVO for it's function...not form. I never really LOVED the looks of the car--but I love the handling of the car. There's no argument there. However it took a lot of modifcation to get the car where its at now.

Taking the idea further...I'm still comparing a modified sport sedan to a STOCK musclecar. There's something for you as well. Stick a turbo and exhaust on the Camaro and some sway bars and perhaps stiffer springs...and I doubt the EVO would put up much of a fight. If you want to truly compare the two platforms...do it apples to apples.

Hope I dont come off as an "nut-rider".
I was just pionting out the LBS/HP is not the "="as you said
550-600 lbs more and same WHP is a good amount no matter the car/forum .

If things were diff in my life (We have a 4mo old boy who needs a back seat) .
I would be wheeling and dealing with my wife to get a 2010 SS

good luck and enjoy your SS !!

If it wasnt for the 2010 camaro I would own an Evo X MR.

that car was ****ing sick. The twin clutch is like nothing Ive ever driven before. It blows the ****ing camaros lame paddle shifting out of the water. Literally blows it out of the water.

This is a bad ass ride that with a few mods will put hurting on 5th gens. Its a true manual transmission with no cluth pedal. So yes its a manual trans or an auto trans.

That Evo X didnt look stock to me (rim's and suspension) .

I would think 8:17 would be close to what a stock Evo X could/should run with an open track and great driver considering an Evo IX ran an 8:11 .

Its a Evo X FQ 360 MR 6 Speed (TC-SST).

There are 4 different models of Evo X FQ's in the UK.
FQ-300 - 291 hp at 6500 rpm and 300 lb·ft at 3500 rpm.
FQ-330 - 324 hp at 6500 rpm and 322 lb·ft at 3500 rpm.
FQ-360 - 354 hp at 6500 rpm and 363 lb·ft at 3500 rpm.
FQ-400 - 404 hp and 400 lb·ft of torque

The EVO 6 is a favorite in England for overall performance. I'm partial to the EVO 8's and 9's...they've been proven as 1000+ HP platforms and 8 sec 1/4 times.

But now I'm more partial to the Camaro...because at this point (for me) there's more to a car than straight HP and 1/4 mile times.

Stock vs stock, the Camaro SS is a lot faster in a straight line. The EVO handles better and has awd.

So it all depends on what you're into.

The EVO X with the Dual clutch sequential for 28 grand new is pretty tempting...

I'd still go for the 31 grand Camaro SS .....but the Evo X is still a hell of a deal for the discounted price being discussed..

Get the camaro SS...

In the US
2006 Evo IX
Fastest ring time of all evo's (8:11) and have ran low 13's (and some high 12's) trap 103-106mph , 255 -270 awhp "dynojet" .

Over sea's I would think the EvoIX FQ-400 would take the cake
Here is a great vid of an FQ-400 vs Lambo !!
