i guess i need to be more specific. you get 7500 to modify them and your going to run the 1/4 mile straight and a 1/4 mile figure 8. who has better times.

termi man. 7500 to the termi is 700-800rwhp easy. single 76mm turbo hellion kit and 21psi of boost. E-boost controller to add it slow and a 75shot off the line to spool the turbo. and have change in ur pocket.

its really not fair to compare a manley forged motor to a stock block. we have a convertible in the club who runs 10's with his. ported eaton, bolt-ons, 250 shot and thats it. even with me and another big guy sitting on his trunk, and termi spins its tires on the dyno when he hits the juice. he cant even get a good reading. thats with ET streets on the dyno.\
he goes by hawk mech on the net.

with 7 grand the Cobra is going to destroy the Camaro. The Cobra already has forged internals so it's no contest. I've seen Cobras running 800 horse power or more for that price.
The 03 Cobras already weigh about 300 pounds less then the Camaro with as much horse power. Don't let the 390 hp rating fool you because they are underated. Some dynoed 380 hp to the wheels and that's around 430 to the crank. Stock for Stock an 03 Cobra will beat a 2010 SS Camaro. Just changing a pulley, intake, exaust, and tune you can have a 500 hp Cobra for about a grand in mods. Look at some of the whipple supercharged and Kenny Belled Cobras putting over 600 to the wheels with just a change of a blower. 2003-2004 Cobras impress the hell out of me. |

this is way different than what i thought would happen. i thought i would see people going to crazy lengths to make the camaro the winner. i dont think its quite as easy as people think to get the power out of the cobra but it is pretty obvious its the winner. no one has commented on the handling so far but i really wanted to use this thread as a test.

I honestly don't know much about the Cobra in handling but I do know it's no slouch. It has IRS. I'd say the Camaro would out handle it but for Muscle Cars, I'd rather drag race as I don't care road courses.
http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...c940ada27b.pdf There is the stats for a 2003 Cobra Car and Driver ran. I believe they got a 90 g on the skid pad and here is the 2010 Camaro's http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...040c16c364.pdf Is that an 82 g on the skidpad? I really never understood the handling numbers so I won't judge these cars. |

Well, it's pretty much inevitable that $ for $, when it comes to modifications the cobra will outperform in a straight line. As for the handling, it should be fairly close. I would give the edge to the camaro in that department though. There aren't many cars better for modifying than the cobra though. Whether it's straight line or road track, it's a stout competitor.

ok i see. well then, what would you guys do to a camaro to beat my old cobra. it has bassani catted x pipe, borla stinger cat back, 60lb injectors(and a whole lot of fuel upgrades), 2.8 upper pully ithink, lower pully i cant remember the size, eaton stage 4 steggy port, drag radials, pro 5.0, 3.73 gear, and of course a tune. i also had the driver mod. consistently ran 11.50s @ low 120s mph.
edit: i spent about 7500 for all this. i also had level 5 halfshafts and irs brace and urathane bushings.

You're going to need either forced induction or a big cam + (heads or juice). You could run a low 120 with just a big cam and bolt ons, but you won't run consistent mid 11's. I'd say cam + juice is your best and cheapest bet.
