Need directions for changing IRS axle seal

I put in heavy duty rear axles and must've sliced the seal on one side, as it's leaking differential fluid. I have a new seal and the axle is already removed. What does is take to pull the old seal (and push in the new one)? Do I need to buy a slide hammer?

Also, I am to use the posi additive, right? I plan to change my 20k mile fluid.

Should just pop out with a pry bar or screwdriver. There not in there THAT good. Get a seal driver or something flat to hammer the new seal in straight with. I wouldn't hammer on the new seal. You risk damaging it, and be careful when reinstalling the axle.

If your going back with stock diff oil, you need the posi additive.

Thanks for the lightning fast reply! I was thinking about grabbing Royal Purple from the auto parts store or Amsoil (since we have a warehouse locally). So, if I use quality synth., I don't need posi additive?
