Horn "button" ergonomic fail, placement and resistance! (mods?)

I just hate the horn on the 5th gens. Not the sound. What I mean, is that the center piece needs to be fu**** slammed, hard, to get some noise going, something which is needed daily when living in a large congested city like Chicago. Also, bottom center placement sucks, to the point where you have to take a hand of the steering wheel. Ergonomic fail! I had the same issue on my 2012 2LS as I do on my 2014 2LS so I know it's by design. I have two 3000GT's and the horn buttons, both of them, are located right under your thumb. See photo:

Any mods, aftermarket steering wheels, anything to make this horn more usable and ergonomic?

Epic fail might be a bit strong, but I agree with you about the force required to sound the horn. I like the idea of thumb buttons.

Most people naturally go to the center of the wheel to sound the horn. The little side buttons aren't the 'best' place for it IMHO.

Normally by the time I'm ready to use the horn, I'm irritated enough that the amount of force required to sound it isn't an issue !

I have no issue with the current design really.

What I have had an issue with is pocket "dialing" up the panic button on the Key Fob while I'm doing yard work or various other things in the house.

It sucks that a car engineered in late 80's and which hit the market in early 90's has more common sense ergonomically than something with a 2014 birthday. I just realized the cancel cruise control button is right under the left thumb on the steering wheel. I bet it can be rewired to the horn wiring. Anyone have any diagrams?

Lol I agree, I realized a long time ago that my horn is only to tell people to watch out or get the F out of the way because it's pretty much impossible to give your neighbor one of those "hey how's it going" toots.

I have no problem getting the horn to operate, one finger push anywhere on the center pad will do it, and it's not hard either.
I have read all your posts and with all your complaints about your car and dealer issues maybe you just need to go buy something else...
Try one of these
