will the ZL1 be good enough for a 11 sec 1/4 mile

So the zl1 is rated at 580hp and 4200lbs weight ?. will it have enough to run down the strip to make a 11 second pass or will it be running nose to nose with the mustang boos or gt 500. will it have enough traction to out run the bigger more powerful aftermarket camaros. seams like the zl1 will have to pull some amazing numbers to pull ahead of the competition.

I say with the right conditions and good driver high 11's is possible. WIth the right conditions and good driver stock SS's are in mid 12' - high 12. So with superior suspension, tires and 150 some odd more HP, I would say its possible.

For most it will be a lower 12 car, 12.4-12.1 but I'm sure someone will get one in to the 11's. If someone wants to throw me the keys to there's I'd be willing to try....

I read a thread in the ZL1 forum or an article somewhere that said something to the tune of ...... when testing at the track, GM drove up with the ZL1, changed to track tires and started running. The others at the track arrived on a trailer, setup for the track....not street-legal. The ZL1 blew everybody away. When done, they changed the track tires back to street tires on the ZL1 and drove off.

I'm thinking this thing is gonna be a sleeper off the production line....even stronger than everyone is predicting. I suspect the numbers already exist and GM is holding them close to their heart until the release of the car next Spring. Can't wait!

An interesting point of reference may be the chart on Cadillacforums.com that indicate some 1/4 mi.times run by some CTS-Vs and the mods that have been done. Although there are no bone stock manual cars listed, there are a few unmodded autos on the list, the best of which has run an 11.99. Factor in the differences between the ZL1 and the V and take it from there...

Best regards,

Elie

Chevrolet has not yet released a curb weight for the ZL1. The 4200 pound number that is circulating around the internet is just an estimate that was listed in an article discussing the officially released 580 horsepower number.
