When the dealer bought the first tank last fall I drove it until the "Low Fuel" light came on, before filled it, took about 16.9 gals. Low Fuel shoudl come on at 2 gal remaining.

Keep going until the DIC tells you that you should have stopped at that last gas station.

I've run 30 miles past low fuel warning.

Gas station is a mile away from home, said I'll fill it up the next day. Thunderstorm that afternoon and power went out at both stations even close.... I was out! Drove farther, that station was out of power. 6 miles later coasted to a pump in neutral haha.

Lowest I've had it is within the "low Fuel" range. Just above E. Haven't ran out of gas in years.

I did when I first got my car, but really pay much attention to the gauge and its position and fulcuate. SO, what I do is I filled it up....and ran till the LOW FUEL light came on....pulled in at the next gas station anf filled it up.....checked the actual milage, then I knew that on avarage, as soon as the Low Fuel light comes on.....I have about 2 1/2 gallons or roughly 50 to 50 miles.

X2 on everything but the $100. That's crazy. I was always told that gas was used less rapidly above half a tank because gravity was acting on it and the pump didn't have to work as much to get the gas through whereas half a tank or less fuel consumption would increase a little due to it being pumped more then "fed" through I am surprised when I find out cars don't have a reserve though. My blazer has a 4 gallon reserve after E. |

I let my gas get down this low yesterday, and ended up only putting in 16.1 gallons in the tank. So I would think you could go quite a ways past this, but I sure start getting nervous once the light comes on. That is the 2nd time i've let it come on since I've owned the car. (dec 2009)

That's what I was thinking!
The miles left always gets hidden by the "Fuel Level Low" but I kept it on miles left till the low fuel came up and it did with 40 theoretical miles left. So I'd say you have at least a good 20 in a V8 but you'll be cutting it close.
