I just have the LS M6 V6, but I took it VERY easy on her the first 500 miles. I never went over 65mph, and shifted at about 2250 RPMs every shift for that first duration. Once I got up to 700 miles on her, I've been shifting at 2500-2900 RPMs, and pushing her up to around 85mph a few times. Having a little more fun than the first 500 miles. I'm going to wait until I get over 1000 miles before I really open her up and see what she's capable of. I'm not sure what the actual "best" or precise breaking in methods are, but that's the way I've been doing it. Good luck, just don't get too excited too fast.

I want to say the book says 1,500 miles. That is what I did for my 1SS/M6. I just hit 1,500 this week

I got on mine from the gate. Studies and hands on teardowns (and dyno pulls) have shown that breaking in a motor hard is more beneficial than an easy break in. There is a thread on the subject.

My Camaro dynoed at 384 at the rear wheels.

Did an oil change at 800 miles...sent sample to Blackstone...changed again at 2300, sent another sample. Results were nominal for a new motor.

If you break in hard, just make sure you allow time for oil to warm up.

I did my first hard acceleration with 23 miles on the odometer. If you choose to do a hard "under load" breakin, you should search on it and do it right. It's not as easy as "driving it like you stole it".

I tried so hard to break it in slow but never happened. Ended up dynoing the car with 350 miles on it.

I drove my 2SS balls to the walls right off the dealer lot. Gets better everyday, 5300 miles now.

I don't really disagree with our NEW camaro's needing an elaborate break-in period like the cars of yesterday with thier flat tappat cams and not as a refined cylinder hone.

However, remember there is more than just the engine.

The trans needs to need to "take a set" The clutch packs in the rear diff would probably apprieciate a little forgivness also till they get to "know each other"

Oh,I forgot about all the bearings everwhere and the clutch disc itself.....

For those of you who want to "Hammer" it out the gate, fine with me.

Me,Nah,I'm gonna wait a while.
