Splash Guard Questions

I have searched and I am not getting a complete answer to my question so here goes......I have a 2013 1LE and want splash guards for it. I have the ZL1 side rockets but not the ZL1 rear diffuser. Which splash guards from RPI do I need to purchase for front and rear. Links to their site please.

I bought the stealth guards from RPI and I think they work great. I have 315's on the rear, so they will probably cover the stock 285 tires even better. I've seen others...but it looks like they go on a 4 wheel drive truck as they curv halfway around the fender well.

So the steal guards will work on a 2013 1LE with zl1 rockers and standard ss diffuser?

There are the links. You want the REAR guards from ZL1-78 kit and you want the ZL1-78 fronts. They WILL break up the ZL1-78 kit to just give you the rears from it. The fronts that are in that it are from their Stealth kit and they make them. They are just plain plastic. The ZL1-78 fronts are the actual GM fronts and made of high impact composite.

This setup is going to cost you more than the cheap ones you see on ebay and going to cost you more than the stealth ones. But it is pay me now or pay me later scenario. I believe is buying the best the first time. The rear molded ZL1 guards are "the shit!" man, so nice! You WILL have to make a couple small mods to the mounting surface of the guard though, I did. But very easy to do and does not hurt them at all and mod is never seen because it is against the fender well.

I do have ZL1 Rockers on my 2014 1LE, but NOT the ZL1 defuser. The ZL1 molded guards work just fine with the 1LE defuser.

Here are a couple pics.

The ZL1 rear splash guards will still work fine with your car without the ZL1 rear diffuser. I had them on my car that way for a year before I recently added the ZL1 rear diffuser. And the ZL1 rear splash guards are going to fit your car the best being OEM designed for the car. For the fronts I ended up with Showstopper's front ZL1 style splash guards. They seem to be working well too.

Thanks for the info, you mention Zl1-78 as both but if I read it I believe youre saying I need the ZL1-78 rears and ZL1-82 fronts. Do those include a piece for both sides of the front wheel well? It says it only includes 2 pieces but if so it would need to include 4 pieces for the fronts...

Call Josh at RPI and tell him you want the rears from ZL1-78 and the fronts to be ZL1-82. He will enter the order that way, splitting the ZL1-78 kit so you only get the rears from that kit (price is reduced to match of course).

On the front defuser in front of the tire. I bought those for $20 on Ebay and since there is so little material showing, they are perfect! Pre-drilled and bolt on in 5 minutes. I did not skimp on cost of the stone guards, went real ZL1 on those. But went cheap on the air defuser in front of the front tires and am totally happy with them!

I bought zl1 splash guards which is not what you asked. Anyway I tell you this because I had to modify them to fit.

I got the set from RPI with their stealth fronts and ZL1 rears back in mid April. I like how both fit now that I got them on. My only complaint is that one of the GM ZL1 rears was missing one of the nut plates. I contacted Josh at RPI with the info and pictures and he quickly sent out a replacement nut plate, but the wrong thing was sent. I got the little clips for the top of the fronts guards. Contacted him again with more pictures. Got a reply that they were out but would have some in a few days. After that time I contacted him again to see if they came in. They had suffered a fire and didn't have them. (Very unfortunate about the fire, I've been though a house fire and understand the hassle there and feel for them.) After some more time and seeing that they are up and running in a new shop and producing items again, I contacted Josh multiple times about getting a nut plate. I've not got a reply from him since May 7th saying "they were in the fire but would have some tomorrow." I've given up on it and got them installed anyway, just frustrating.

In short;
Love the products,
Not real happy with the customer service or lack of replies.

BTW, on the front guards, I used the some 3M double sided tape on the top instead of the metal clips they provided. Has worked well so far.

Also, I don't have the ZL1 diffuser and the rear guards fit well (2014 V6 RS). There was a thick plastic piece in the bottom inside of the fender. A brace of some sort, I guess. It had to be removed for the guards to fit. Easily enough done by drilling out an aluminum rivet. That piece is where I got my missing nut plate from. Didn't remove the rear tires for install, used a small thumb ratchet that hold screwdriver bits that I picked up from a parts store counter years ago. It finally got used. : )
