Can you feel it? Does your fingernail catch in it?

Yeah it felt slightly rough. Not smooth like the rest of the body. Fingernail catch? I don't really have much knowledge about this sort of thing? Is it some sort of quick test?

Yup. If your fingernail catches in the scratch, it will need repainted. If it doesn't catch, it will be able to be wetsanded or compounded out.

More like if its down to the.metal it will need repainting..if brought to the right perfson..and its not down to the.metal a little wetsanding and buffing may smooth it out

Even if the fingernail catches and it's not down to the metal, you can't safely wetsand and compound it out because you'll have to take the rest of the clearcoat around it off to. They could certainly make it look better, but not perfect without risking the chance of clearcoat failure.

Oh no doubt. Anything could look better than that. Especially if the OP doesn't have the money for a respray right now.

I would just try a mild rubbing compound first, one made for clear coat. Take your time and don't rush, their that takes it out then polish/wax over top of that. Wet sanding may remove to much of the clear coat. I would do that as a last resort.

If you're gonna try it on your own by hand, I would use meguiars ultimate compound. Should be able to find it at Walmart for $8 for 16 oz. By hand will only go so far. A machine will probably be necessary to remove that.

Yeah I was planning on using my machine. So would you still recommend meguiar's ultimate compound with a machine?
