manual vs DIC
You have to be careful with manual also. Not all pumps shut off at the same level. I use the same station most of the time and calculate over the month to level it out. The DIC always shows 1 or 2 mpg better in both my 2000 LeSabre (soon to be sacrificed for the Camaro) and my 2008 Enclave.

Thanks dude.
You really gotta do a long-term (at least 4 weeks) test on the car to get an accurate mileage average. I could drive from CA to NY and average 25mpg on the long straight aways. But stuck in LA traffic... you're gonna get around 15mpg. I recommend driving your car to work and back and on your usual errands and maybe a weekend trip... for 4 weeks. Keeping track of how many gallons of gas you put in, and do the math with your odometer. And hopefully all you SS drivers out there stick with the high octane premium gas when you're doing the testing. If you really want to get into it... go a few weeks with Regular in your tank and tell us how your performance and mileage is. |

Are you talking about your Camaro or ??? If you have a vehicle with Active Fuel Management, you will see the V8 to V4 change under the instant fuel economy mode in the DIC. Use the top button that gives you the odometer and just keep pushing it till that comes up. Remember that AFM will only kick it into 4cyl mode at highway speeds under low load conditions. I'm curious to see if the Camaro has that setting...of course you'd have to have the L99 V8 auto with AFM.

My Impala (6cyl) gets 29-30 on the highway @ 70-75 MPH and 20-22 around town. I don't care what my new Camaro will get. After the cost of the car, taxes and insurance MPG is a minor expense. Anyway, who cares- You'l be driving a Camaro. PS: With the cost of the 19-20" tires we should be worried about miles per tire- LOL.

I don't plan on doing burn-outs left and right either. I may be young... but I don't drive like a son of a bitch, you know? |

My put-put mobile Aveo only averages 22-24mpg usually... (mostly city/rural driving)
I'm kinda expecting the Camaro to not be too much worse than my current car... And it'll have about 4X the power.

My Lexus and Excursion both read HIGH by 1-2mpg consistently. 1-2 is more than normal margin of error IMO. I have yet to see a consistent, *accurate* mileage computer on a car. |

It shows when you're in "V6" or "V4" mode, right? As long as I get better highway mileage than my old lady does in her big ass Sierra, I'll be doin' alright |
