Im getting ready to ship out for the Air Force and after tech school Im gonna buy a black on black SS/RS with hurst shifter. Now from what I read you guys are pretty smart and I was wondering if you could tell me what i would need to make this a 10 second car and keep it streetable.

Are you going to remove weight or is most everything staying on the car?

Keeping it basically stock looking and getting into the 10's will require IMMENSE horsepower! Best bet would be to get an auto tranny model(with the tranny made bulletproof)and then either do major mods to the engine along with a turbo setup, or drop in another engine set up to take big boost with a turbo. You're going to need a good 700-800 RWHP to get it done with a stock style car with just drag radials on for tires.

I guess my first question is why do you want it to be a 10 second car? once we know that and a few other questions we can help you build a path...
Is money a factor? Do you plan on doing the work yourself? do you want to keep it naturally aspirated? |

If you're going to keep everything on your car, then you can figure a curb weight around 3900lbs plus whatever you might weigh. I don't know you, but let's be conservative and say 160. That's a race weight of 4060.
At that weight, you will need around 700hp at the flywheel to get the car into the 10's if you are an average driver; maybe less if you have ideal racing conditions and are an experienced driver. |

throw an LS9 in there and call it a day. but of course build up the rest of the car while you are at it.

Your going to need around 550-575rwhp imo to run tens so you now need to decide how you want to get there FI or NA.

Realize your throwing away your powertrain warranty.
Someone has been watching TV movies (Vin Diesel claiming his dad's car runs 10's). |
