Are you wanting to make them a different color then they are now? or are you just wanting to protect them like they are?

I had the wheels on my TBSS powdercoated and they charged me 400$ to do all four...pc holds up ALOT better and is ALOT harder than the regular clear coat that comes from the factory...As far as mounting them on tires...no precautions needed when u mount them..make sure whoever powdercoats them sandblasts them also

http://www.calchrome.com/service_fusioncoat.php

Fusion Coat is a proprietary glossy finish that is closely related to powder-coating. Our durable formulation also has the added protection of a clear powdercoat top layer. The final product is a solid color with a glossy-smooth surface with a much more durable finish.
Fusion Coating is available in various colors,

I take it you mean to sandblast the whole rim to prep it for powder coating and to remove the clear coat on it. Although I would assume this would be an obvious step for a powder coater, you can never assume!
