lol. does "married" mean that the tuner you bought can only be updated by whatever shop you bought it from?

A handheld tuner can only be paired with one car at a time. This keeps people from buying one and sharing it with 85 of their friends. If you buy a new handheld, you can tune your car. If you go to sell the tuner later, you have to untune your car and put it back to stock so the person buying it can use it.

Alright thank you. Now, when people talk about getting it tuned by a shop... Like janetty racing for example.. Is that in conjunction with your handheld? Or is that an Alternative to buying a handheld?

You need to have a handheld tuner like SCT in order to put the tune they send to you on the car.

Yes if remote tuning like by email.
No when your car is tuned at the shop. Shops dont generally require a handheld to do a tune in their shop.

btw - I have used Janetty with good results. Had to buy an SCT handheld, read the tune from the car, and emailed it to him. He emailed back a modified tune, which I loaded onto the handheld then loaded into the car.

For another new camaro modded...I am considering a jet tuner from a friend. All he has is the USB cable and tuner. Is this all that I would need? Or is there something else I will need to install a performance tune? Will I need a update for even an unmarried tunner that is a year old?

Hello, A Jet tuner will not support Modded Cars, and will not accept custom tuning files.

SCT is your Best Choice for Custom Tuning.

I have provided over 1600 Custom Tunes for the Camaro5 Community with fantastic results.

Ted.

In my opinion SCT is the way to go. You buy the SCT Handheld from a SCT Dealer like Ted @ Jannetty Racing and then you can have Tunes emailed to you. You download the tunes to the handheld and then upload them to your car using the handheld.

Its convenient and saves you a lot of time, you don't have to make appointments with tuning shops and have to drive to the tuner. You email Ted, he sends you a Tune and your done.

Teds Tunes are spot on I've gotten many tune from him for my customers cars and even my own camaro and we've never had a problem. After data logging some of these cars didn't even need a tune adjustment.
