worst luck with this car
Im sure some of you have seen my thread that i blew my motor after i installed twin turbos. well i got a new engine built. forged internals, bigger cam, cnc/ported heads.. this morning i got my car dyno tuned (made 611rwhp and 567rwtq) and then two hours later i snapped an axle
I might be looking into trading for either a C6 Z06, ZL1, or GT500.

That sucks but you can't blame the axle on the engine, can you? Did you upgrade the rest of the driveline, or just the engine? Is it possible this was not 'bad luck' but rather exceeding expectations for the parts that failed?
For example, both the TH350 and the 10 bolt rear end in my 1970 Buick broke. Of course, I had installed a bigger engine that made much more torque...also broke a motor mount and ate a fan shroud...but all those things were really my fault.

Really,
you modify the car to specs beyond its components intended use and its the cars fault! You my friend have more money than common sense. Just saying. |

Ummm when you build an engine like you did with that kind of juice you should have had a long checklist of upgrades needed to handle and harness the power. New axles would have been on there and possibly U joints, not sure what the stock ones are rated for. Sorry for the bad luck but modifying engines is not done in a vacuum, everything else has to be matched to handle the new output.

Dude look at it this way I'll take having to buy axles over a new engine any day just throw in a beefy set and never worry about it again.

Shit happens. Axles are a lot cheaper then an entirely new car plus the depreciation hit

I've heard of stock axles breaking on just bolt-ons. Hell, driveshafts have snapped using launch control on a stock car.
Not surprised your axles went with your power, especially if you launch from the dig a ton. Replacing the rear is a must because stock will eventually go soon or later. |

That does suck. Keep on building focus on that suspension. Your car is nice.

I think it would have been better and cheaper to have started with a ZL1. Get a ZO6 if you want to go fast and not battle all that weight.
