My 2012 RX Catch Can Install

This is how I installed my catch can, I tried to mount it originally on the engine cover stud but it wouldn't fit without cutting the cover. I'm in the process of painting the cover so I'm not really up for that. So far I've had no problems and the cover fits easily back on. Just putting this out there for anyone installing one on the LFX.

Nice! I just installed my catch can today, but I cut the engine cover so it would fit on the stud. BTW, what did you do with the clear tubing that was attached to the drain?

Thanks! The clear tubing is still on, I just cut the majority of it off. Left about 4 inches of it on so I can still use it to drain.

I wanna order the catch can and breather but with a couple of posts I have read with blowing the main seal is worrying me alot.
Has everone verify what the problem was? was it a bad install or defecting breather or catch can?
The dealers in MA would never cover it if the found out some aftermarket part was installed..

What posts talk about blowing a main seal? I have only heard good things about the catch can.

I have read one post where a guy had problems with his, but most people believed he installed it wrong, other than that every other post I read was nothing but positive, which is why I went with this as my first mod.

Yes. They make a bracket for that purpose.

Thanks. Just wondering which bracket to get when I order my catch can. I'm installing a CAI brand cai and I'm wondering how much clearance there is for the catch can on the driver's side. I'm not interested in cutting my engine cover to fit the can on the passenger side.

OP, I like your solution. Which bracket did you use?

That is correct. Out of over 10,000 of these sold and in use the only oil leaks (no one EVER blew a seal out.....just caused leaks that stopped when they installed the hoses correctly) were from the hoserouted backwards so the checkvalve prevented the can from evacuating.

But some of the unscrupulous competitors have jumped on that and PM people considering buying that this is an issue. Something you see we dont stoop to. We report actual facts when mentioning anyone elses.

Awesome install soultion!! Will add this to the instructions!!

Thanks!! I ordered it with the standard bracket. I love the looks of this, very well produced. Cant wait for their ported throttle body to come out!!!

Also, I have it set to the highest position so it can be seen better, but if you put the can lower on the bracket there is a lot of room for the can. I'll probably move it down when I get a cai installed. Just food for thought.
