Footwell w/switch, blowing fuse

Installing diode dynamics RGB footwell kit with their switch. T-tapped the switch wires into the wires going into the RGB controller and connected them to the switch, now it keeps blowing the fuse for the 12v outlet that I'm tapped into. I've tried replacing with a 20A, 15A, and 10A fuse but they all blow when I turn the key on.

What fuse should I use? I don't want to get rid of the switch because I got ahead of myself and already drilled a hole and put it in so now if I don't use it, it's just there for nothing.

I'm not an electronics guy at all!

There is a fault somewhere. Either bad wiring, a short, or faulty hardware (ie: switch, controller, or lighting).

You can find a wiring issue using a multimeter.

I took off the t-taps from the red/black wires that I had the switch tapped into. Tried the LEDs and they worked fine. Used brand new t-taps the red ones since both wires are 18 guage, and same thing happens, fuse blows. It's something with adding the switch into.

What if instead of tapping into the wires going into the controller, I tapped directly into the wires going into the outlet? Before or after the taps for the LEDs make a difference? If these don't work then I give up and will just have an empty switch lol

What wires (from the car) are you tapping into?

The ones going into the 12v outlet in front of the shifter, that are on the bottom of the shifter plate piece. Is there somewhere else I should tap?

So your tapping the wires coming from the cigarette lighter?
