i went to lowe's , got a 25sq ft roll of thin reflective insulation for $12.

covered the trunk only and it reduced the noise from my flomaster exhaust so much i'm going to take it out or remove half of it.

i can't even hear it roar anymore....sure the radio may sound a little better, but the car sounds like it did with the stock exhaust :(

so be advised!!

It was 3/8" inch thick with aluminum on both sides. Called reflective insulation for water heaters. It was in a 8" x 30ft (25 sq ft) roll or a 16" size. I got the 8", cut pieces to match the trunk liner and just ducted taped it together. Threw it under the trunk liner, and no more rip roaring exhuast notes!! :( Took 10 minutes to assemble a perfect trunk cutout and install.

Will take 2 minutes to remove and cut in half to get some good sound back

Anyone have any recomendations of sound deadeners, quality of deadening versus weight?

I found pipe insulation.
It comes in 12" rolls 15' long.
It has foil on one side, and what looks like double sided foam tape on the other.
Cost $12.
Thinking of turning my trunk carpet over in my house, and covering the back of it with this stuff, that way I can just remove the carpet and do something else if I choose to.
This stuff is really light, and I prefer to do a lightweight install.
That butyl stuff must be quite heavy.

I couldn't find anything close to what you all are talking about in either Lowe's or Home Depot.

I think I might have seen the foam with foil on one side for the pipes. I looked near the hot water heaters and in the insulation area and the duct work area.

I was looking for the bubble wrap stuff with foil on both sides.

What section is it in?
