Strut Tower - Bumper

The top strut mount on the Camaro is floating, the retainer metal plate with rubber bumper will on occasion contact the strut tower leaving black marks.
Is there a good way to avoid this? I'd like to keep it factory look. The only thing I can think of is maybe Xpel type clear plastic film that I have left-over from other projects on the car. However, it may end up going easily through the film. Anyone have a non-invasive way to prevent the scuffing marks?
Here is a picture after 8 months ... marks show from the 4 to 6 o'clock positions.
