What's the treadwear rating? That's usually the most telling number in regard to grip. The Pirellis I believe are 180 which is edging toward R-compound.
340, but they don't feel and handle like a 340. My NT05's were a 200 and I so far feel more confident in these, especially in the rain. I asked a engineer during the AWESOMECROSS about the high treadwear vs traction. He told me that these get a high number because this new silica compound last a bit longer. The stock SS PZero's are a 220.

I see. I knew they were using silica in winter tires, but I didn't know they were putting that much in high-performance summer. But then again winter tires have a lot of silica and they wear so fast in summer they don't put read wear ratings on them. But you are probably right that tread wear ratings and dry traction don't necessarily have a linear inverse correlation like they did say 10 years ago due to exotic compound formulations.

Don't know where I got 180 from, but 220 is still kind of a gumball for a street tire.

How stiff are the side walls? How many plies?

On post #1 it says 40% stiffer sidewalls.

While the sidewall is stiffer, most noise comes from the tread pattern . The BFG KDW2 with the flame pattern were known to be noisy. These should be much quieter overall.
