Looks like there's an RS4 out that replaces the 3 as well

Finally, the rain let up and I was able to get going on the race prep. Did the diff with 85w140 Lucas Dino Oil -- that seems to work best with the Eaton, quieter for sure.

Getting ready for the Castrol SRF brake fluid flush -- Will have to wait till tomorrow as I want to have some daylight when I test drive it -- don't want to do that at night after a brake flush ;o)

Fluids check out and are fairly fresh, will clean and lube up the 'Heim Joints' on the toe rods (front and back). My GoodYears still look fantastic, but I'll be ordering the Toyo's once the wheels get here -- not sure if everything will be ready for Track Day or not. We'll see.

While I was checking things, decided to recheck my exhaust clamps -- and sure enough -- broke one -- barely tightened it -- I could see the bolt was metal fatigued -- lucky I have spares ;o).

The joys of track prep -- I leave myself notes on the car -- like LUG NUTS in red marker on painters tape smacked on the driver's window, so I don't forget I need to re-check them before driving -- force of habit...

OK, fresh Castrol SRF flushed through the braking system, wheels torqued to spec (ZL1) now (removed my reminder), Heim joints lubed, just waiting on the wheels, and tpms monitors, brake duct deflectors cked (non-racing ones for now). Once the wheels are in, will order the tires (don't want to order them until I get the wheels). Should be a quick order from tire-rack. Took the car out with all the fluids ready then, gave her a bath...

Can't wait to get the new track Toyo tires -- I’ll probably have TireRack heat cycle them for me -- not worried about shaving -- but the heat cycle will get them ready for road course work!

Toyos R888Rs ordered!

$1468 and free shipping from tires direct. Couldn’t find a good deal from one of the tire sponsor links so, used this one saved me about $200.

Tires direct had 15% off and free shipping... hard to beat. Will have to do the heat cycling myself but, that should be ok...

Like the tread design:

Took the car out tonight, running excellent, brakes perfect. One thing for sure, traction sucks. Just no getting on it — like driving on ice sometimes— scoots all over the road on these Goodyear’s...

But, will be interesting to see how the Toyos do on the track....

Thanks!

Yep, when I was in tech school, one of our team members forgot to tighten one of my wheels (we used our cars to learn on) and on the way home, there went the tire in front of me (from the rear) and I had to guide the car to the side (had drum brakes so lucky there). Put it back on, drove home — never assumed after that! That is why I’m anal about log steps, bag-n-tag, and torquing things. Life lesson at early age...

Well, my 305 Toyos are coming from Toyo overseas... looks like I’ll have to use the GoodYears this time out. 285s will be here soon. I’d do 305 squared in a pinch, but rather keep staggered since my suspension is setup for that...

305's are due in this week -- we'll see if I get them before Saturday -- would love to try them out!

Thanks! Still waiting for 'meat' delivery 2.

In the mean time, I'm prepping for Saturday's HPDE -- taking it out and doing 'sprited' braking tests -- to confirm nothing amiss with the bleeding and fluid changes. So far, performing as expected.

Hope the new tires get here soon enough -- Thursday is track prep day -- get all the stuff out of the trunk, getting extra fuel, Road Warrior Plus treatment...

Fun to plan ;o)...
