Angry 2013 ZL1 Both Rear Struts are BLOWN (44,000 Miles)

I just replaced both rear struts at almost $1000 for the pair of struts (no labor). I have just over 44,000 miles on the car. Here are a few pictures of what I took out !!

Has anyone else had the same issue??

GM gives a 3 Year OR 36,000 mile warranty. Read the original post above (44,000 miles)

You didn't need to cut the wires...you can "depin" the weatherpack. I had mine out yesterday and they were dry. I only have 13K miles.

I didn't have anything on hand to get the old pins out of the connector so I improvised.

Somebody else had posted the made it 60k or so, and that GM told him that they don't last long.
Yay.

Out of curiosity, besides the obvious wetness on the struts, did something else make you look at them? Like, did you notice anything changing in the ride quality or handling? I ask because I've been fighting a weird rear suspension problem and the dealership hasn't been able to find anything.

Sounds pretty close to the life I got out of normal struts in my other GM vehicles.

Yes, I noticed the ride of the ZL1 was more like a bagged and lowered Honda Civic with NO SUSPENSION. My butt feeling was right on, I had ordered the struts long before I noticed the wetness on the struts. It was almost not drivable. It felt like riding in a car with square wheels !!! It's a shame that GM cannot buy product that will last more that this and and on top of that charge almost $1000 for 2 struts is a bit extreme !!

I didn't find any so I replaced with the new part # from GM: 20942614. I did have the GM Wholesale part guy tell me that the OE numbers that were on the struts didn't come up in their system at all as being a good part number. Makes me wonder if GM knew the parts were not up to par and put them on anyways !!

I guess at times we just have to deal with it. I ended up with an 1100.00 mistake, the rear end tail happy kind of mistake! I had to replace the LCA and have two wheels repaired. I would hope I get the same mileage out of my struts. How long were you expecting them to last?

I know you are upset, but they are a wear item. 44K miles is a tad bit premature, but it's not out of the question:

The short answer? Experts recommend replacing shocks every 50,000 miles (80,467 kilometers), but a great deal depends on how you treat your vehicle's suspension.
