Military members?

I'm stationed in Hawaii for now, just seeing how many other members are in the service. And if you are a weekend warrior is doesn't count!

I am active duty, 22 years now. I would also point out that with the "War on Terror," many of those 'weekend warriors' have spent more time down range than the average active duty service member over the last decade. I would be a little careful about counting them out.

20 years retired. Weekend warrior? Not a very professional statement from a US Sgt. How many deployments have you served? I was a weekend warrior and deployed 3 tours. Without the Reserves and National Guard there would be no Army. Who were the soldiers who relieved the Active Duty? Everyone who is activated is Regular Army. I have seen how lazy the Regular Army really is. Leave it for the Reservist to do our job. I take offense to your statement. You obviously have no wife and kids you had to leave behind and watch them grow up on Skype. Stationed in Hawaii? Pfffft...sounds like someone wanted an easy paycheck and you have no idea what being a Real soldier is about. When you best friend is killed to an IED or looses their legs, then you will think about the weekend warriors who died for their country and not sitting on a beach in Hawaii.

PFC stationed at Leonard Wood. Military Police/31B...my buddy was a "weekend warrior".

I try to visit his grave every time I am in town.

We have reservist.. National Guard... Auxiliary Sheriff and police.. all volunteers..We all stop a bullet the same way, protect with the same level of passion and dedications and volunteer with honor to serve our country.. we have different commitment but are willing to server the same,,

Yes.. as a former reservist and an Auxiliary Officer.. The comment was very offensive..

Sitting in Hawaii.. i dont need to even comment about that... I agree with the other gentleman.. how many tours seeing combat have yo seen..

you need to be careful what you say many of those weekend warriors have been down range more than active duty and have spilled their blood and sweat with some never to return

Well, at least you count those who aren't just grunts... like yourself. I'm no longer in the service but, when I was, "weekend warriors" were recognized for their service just like the rest of us. Currently, there are many thousands of these folks who haven't been home in quite a long time... mighty long weekend.
