ZL1 - shopping - question.

I’m looking at some ZL1 and 2SS Camaros and I’m finding I can afford a very low miles 2SS or a ZL1 with about 50,000 miles on it.

Obviously cars will vary greatly - but any comments on a ZL1 with that many miles on it?

Mine is a daily driver and nearing 65k. These cars are, for the most part, overbuilt. At 50k, i would be checking brake wear and shocks along with normal inspection as they are not cheap to replace. In other words, i wouldn't worry about 50k mileage if it is going to be used as a driver and not a show car.

Smile ZL1 FTW !

I was up against the "Camaro economy" study not long ago.

Clean 2SS + mods to equal ZL1 will eclipse ZL1 expense in a hurry.

If what you want is a 600HP Camaro the ZL1 is a fast forward and huge value.

To build a non ZL1 to ZL1 specs is false economy IMHO.

My only regret on my ZL1 purchase is I didn't buy it sooner or use the phrase "ZL1" more in this ZL1 post.

The ZL1 is a great car. If you can get into one jump on it. The LSA is also a great platform to mod. We just did a pulley swap and made 55rwhp on one last week. Easy power and they are built for more.

In my experience, it's all about how you maintain them. If done properly, they can still look and feel new at 150k miles.

I agree with above.

Currently at 32000 on mine (not quite as high as you are looking at) with ~14000 mildly-modded miles on her, and will likely be adding ~150 rwhp in additional modifications in the next few months - literally zero worries about reliability and will continue to drive ~5000 miles per year until I sell.

This question has come up a few times. Physically, the ZL1 will be fine at that mileage or higher mileages. If you are buying a ZL1 then you'll want to shop around for lower mileage examples, as many ZLs on the market feature lower mileage and usage.

Be careful when you are cross comparing a ZL against another Camaro model, as there are distinct differences between the models in terms of price, features and performance.

WhAt size pulley did you go with ? What other modifications were on the car. What was the duty cycle of the injectors? Tampa Tuning told me my injectors duty cycle was high from just bolt ons, and if I swapped pullies I’d need larger injectors.

FWIW, stock injectors typically run out of headroom quickly on these cars.
