It's highly likely that the holes in the wheel have been wallered out and the threads on the studs damaged.

I would think if that happened he would not have been able to tighten the bolts flush.

I didn't "scream" at them, but I let them know I was extremely pissed at their incompetence. It's a place that has been servicing my vehicles for over 20 years and they appreciate and want to keep my business. But, no one services my Camaro but me!
