I understand gm has to cater to certain individuals every now and then . The z/28 was purposely built for those who wanted something they didn't have to pitch any extras into it for their accomplishment . Then comes along individuals like I who just have to break into it and unleash its terror . Oboy ! I Can't wait

I've given this a lot of thought and I actually have to retract my complaints or me being naive to its probable price. They built this car exactly as it should have been built. No exceptions and charge what they want.

Here's where it gets interesting. Many on this board wanted a factory LS7 camaro. Not many asked for it to be a track superstar. They wanted a gutted out high performance street brawler with an LS7. Ppl kept saying Z/28 because they hadn't made one yet and figuring that's what it should've been because for 3 decades it WAS just a badge; called it a Z/28 not realizing that they were asking for a true track beast.

So how about it GM? How about a $45-$50k street brawling machine naturally aspirated?

Don't despair, brother!...lol...The LS7 is pricier than you think...They don't build cars with a swap-meet, mix-n-match, let's make a deal mentality...I thought perhaps an LSA engine would become available after the ZL1 came out, to be put into a run of the mill, bare-bones SS...(Bargain base-ment priced, of course...lol) That would've been street brawler enough for me...but, nope, no such luck...

Just sayin', if you think we're gonna see an LS7 in anything other than this Z/28, don't hold your breath...lol....It's pretty clear they aren't gonna go the "Z28" route again, for a lot of reasons, all good IMO....

....The car you want is gonna be a modded out LS3 or a good used ZL-1...and you can shed weight on it to your heart's content....The engines they have to choose from to drop in these cars, is limited...And IMO they have maxed out with all the possible combos already that will be seen from the factory....

Want that engine!

After owning a 06,06,& 10 Z06 would love to have that engine in a Camaro. I wish Chevy would include it as an engine option for the 2SS. I want to be able to drive it on the road with all the other creature comforts of the normal 2SS. Live in the midwest where potholes are everywhere and with those tires (almost slicks) and the low tire sidewalls they would be out-of-round the first week. I know Chevy reads these posts so maybe the 2015 model the engine will be an available option.

And how much would you be willing to pay for the optional LS7?

$45k tops. Why would it cost anymore if you left an SS as is? LS7s are not THAT expensive. You must subtract an LS3 from the price of that LS7. You can't add it on top of the price of an SS because you're not getting 2 engines. The harness needed and dry sump configured into the car? A 2SS would be $45k. 1SS $42k?

As good as this sounds, you can't just slap an LS7 in an SS and call it a day. Well, you could, but GM certainly isn't going to do it without the upgraded associated parts necessary to warranty it for 100k miles.

I agree with Wondering. If GM were to have an LS7 available to put in, they would need to go through the drivetrain and suspension to warranty it and that cost $. I would say it would be in the neighborhood of 48k as a base for the 2SS, before any options. And don't forget the ADM's unless you can get it from a dealer like Rogers Chevrolet

These days, crank windows DO weigh more. I wouldve liked to see a radio in there, but seeing as ill probably never be able to afford one, its a non-issue for me lol. Im just glad theyre making it!!

Ok, so $45k for a 1SS and $48k for a 2SS. Sounds great to me. What do you say GM?

For those in Indy in 2008, I don't remember which engineer it was but they specifically addressed the crank window question. They flat said that crank windows would indeed weigh more than the power ones that's why they wouldn't be offered.
