Broken ac belt.

These common to just come apart? I thought they motor blew up cause it made one hell of a noise when you reved it up. Belt has maybe 10k miles on it. Was an acdelco belt.

Mine just went. Started to squeal about a month a go when up in Canada. Had a small tear in it. When I got home I put a new Gates stretch belt on.

Crap yours is a 2014. & it went already?

Now I see why it broke a supercharger. A/C turning to fast trying to cool the car down to fast. LOL

I have heard about the ac belts breaking from a few people. An individual that I work with has replaced his more than once. Small stones get lodged between the pulley and belt and destroy the belt.

I would also closely inspect the crank dampener as stock its not much for protection like a harmonic balancer, and is old school with rubber between two sections and I have heard over the years of its failures on here. I also have heard of the SLP units failing too. Good Luck!

Had to get mine replaced this summer too. Just over 12,000 miles and slightly over 3 years. Dealer made me pay for it.

Just turn the pulley over slowly & take your right hand and guide the belt on easy as heck. Took the tool back to get my money. I didn't even use the tool.

You might've cleared up a little mystery for me; I got a friend to bring back an AC belt from the US recently (big dollars in UK) - it came with small cast metal 'shoe' - no GM number on it - slightly curved, about 2" long - is that a tool for climbing the belt over the pulley?

Thanks for any help,
Ed

Take it to your dealer. Service department can put a new one on in 15 minutes - no charge. Probably just a defective belt. It happens.

I do not know a lot of people with Camaro's say about 5 and 2 of them had to replace the ac belt because it shredded. I would say it is comman and it is not the belts it is small stones getting between the belt and pulley destroying the belt. True story

Add me to the list of shredded ac belts, but that's why it is a separate belt.
