Scratches in matte stripes. Can I fix this??

Someone drew dicks on the matte black stripes on my Camaro. They are now scratched into the vinyl. I don't see how I can fix this as they are matte.

Sorry for the poor lighting, I noticed it while I was washing the car in my garage after the sun went down.

This really torqued my off. The car leaves my garage maybe one a month. 7000 miles in 20 months!

Ok, enough bitching how can I fix this????

That sucks... odds are you won't be able to fix it, but you can try a mild abrasive like our fine machine polish on them and it'll make them less noticeable.

Thanks Dylan.

Btw, I had your VRT on there. To bad it can't protect against idiots, LOL!!!

Tomorrow I'm going to try to clean them and use a hand polish.

I know I could probably mask them but I really want them gone. If they have to be replaced, I might as a well try to fix them 1st just to see if I can!!!

I backed the car out into the sunlight this morning. The scratches are too deep!

Dylan, how about creating a wax that burns like hell if you touch it, after it is applied to a vehicle.

I'll be the beta tester!!!

Poison laced wax as a theft or vandalism deterrent... I like it! LOL

Should also come with a large window sticker that says "This car protected by Adam's Anthrax Wax - death to anyone who touches it"

I know when my stripes get too many defects in them to hide I will probably get out a head gun and remove them and have new ones installed or have someone paint new ones on. hoping to get a couple more years out of them though

The more you mess with those stripes, the shinier they will get and you will also degrade the life of them with the stuff you put on them. This is why I tell folks to mask them off and leave them alone. Soap and water is the only thing that is safe for them. Putting stuff on them also affects the warranty from the stripe manufacturer although get this, stripes that are on the horizontal plane are not warrantied by the stripe manufacturer, only the stripes on the vertical plane. That's something a lot of people don't know about stripes.

I'm doing a writeup on stripe maintenance an care. You'll be surprised at how the industry states that these stripes should be cared for.

Check with insurance on how high your deductible is on comprehensive damage. Stripes will need to be replaced.

Do you have a Hell's Angels chapter nearby.

Someone would be on a respirator for drawing dicks on my car.

If this happened where you park regularly, set up a hunter's game camera. Hunting stores like Cabelas have them. A friend of mine busted someone stealing cat convertors with a game camera. He had it set up to notify him through his phone everytime it was triggered.

I found a guy locally that can replace just the stripes on the trunk for $75.

So, I'm going to get them replaced....
