YIKES !!! GRINDING FROM 2ND TO 3RD ! any thoughts ?? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

im hearing some bad grinding when im in 2nd going into 3rd. any thoughts? its not every time but ive heard it about three times...... this was under a bite harder shifts then just normal driving, but not crazy hard driving...lol. but to be honest,i did miss a gear once or twice in the past driving like a clown, hope i didnt mess somtin up !!

mine has grinded the 2nd-3rd shift when at WOT since day 1. dunno the deal. 2nd occasionally, but i think that in that case it's my right hand quicker than my left foot kinda deal. but i've did a wot run and changed slowly with the clutch fully engaged from 2nd to 3rd and it wasn't really a grinding, it just felt like the synchro in it was going bad and you hear that clink sound when getting it into 3rd.

Could be a syncro, shift fork, or the clutch not disengaging. It should be under warrenty so it would be cheapest to let the dealer do it.

Sounds like a synchro. I had the same thing in my '99.

Your synchros are out. PM tandtperformance (Tim). He had the same problem with his new camaro.

Don't grab the shift knob. Push up at a 15-20 degree angle with the palm of your hand. Trying to grab the knob and push an H pattern pushes it too far or not far enough into the neutral and up position for third.

i just did it like this and it worked perfectly. kudo's to you man seriously. i was trying to shift it inbetween 3rd and 5th and it'd crunch into third. thanks man.
