From an unknown, but reputable source. Note there will be no matte black insert option in 2013.

Shipment and production of 2012 ZL1 models are underway from Oshawa Assembly - - 2012 production ends in mid-June
2012 ZL1 Camaro orders currently on the preliminary tab and not in system WILL NOT be built and if they are a Sold Order MUST BE Re-Ordered as a 2013 Model - - as of now there are NO Plans for price protection
Dealers with unfulfilled 2012 estimated production guide numbers will receive the first 2013 ZL1 for coupe only orders during the weekly ordering DOSP cycle of May 17 - 22, 2012
This will cover the first 4 to 6 weeks of production
All impacted units should be produced by end of July
2013 Camaro ZL1 Convertible will start production in early August and will not be available for placement until June Dealer Ordering Cycle Of June 21 - 26, 2012
New 2013 Camaro ZL1 Estimated Production Guide Number will be provided in Mid-May - - around the week of May 14th
2 separate guide numbers will be provided - one for coupe and one for convertible models
It is based upon the last 12 months of sales through April 2012
Estimated Guide Number covers production through December 2012
Be on the lookout for an Administrative Message issued in the middle
of May for further details
2012's standard "black painted" hood insert is being replaced for 2013 by an "Ashen Gray" painted hood insert
Optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Hood Insert (RPO: B92) remains available
No Option Price Discount (OPD) for the optional hood insert will be provided for the 2012 model run

Lol why not just leave the exposed as standard... It's the best looking one! And I can't wait to see pics of the new "ashen grey insert" lol

I cant even imagine it being that color at all

Particularly if you have the Ashen Gray ZL1... but at least you won't have to worry about the wax-stain issues...

So are they only building carry overs from 2012 for the first 6 weeks or are they going to include some new 2013 coupes in the first 6 weeks? A mix would make sense as to keep as many dealers supplied as they can but only time will tell. Just hope I get mine so I can drive it a couple of times before the snow flies here in NH.

All carry overs from MY2012 will be built by the end of July.
Sounds like dealers will not be able to start ordering MY 2013's
for another few weeks. All this sounds pretty legit.

I guess Only Time Will Tell... Just Don't understand Why GM doesn't come out with an OFFICIAL Timeline Update??? IMHO I think it would Only HELP Sales!!!!!!!

GM can't control emotions, appeals, "hope or change"..... I know they are doing the best they can to make the ZL1's "right" and "on time as possible"..... It is what it is! Now chase your dreams and make them happen! Good info OP had to help you chase your dream!

I don't understand this statement. So far all cars ordered with CFI have received an invoice credit.

My dealer just called me with the 2013 vert info posted in the notice.

It would have been nice to get it in time for the annual Wooward Dream Cruise Aug 18th, or in time for my 60th birthday Aug 28th, but it looks like that ain't gonna happen especially if the Verts sit through a 4-6 week QC period.

It would have also been nice if it could be delivered in time to put at least a few miles on it before storing it for the winter, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.
