Engine "break-In"

Hi everyone, I just wanted to clarify one point about engine break-in from PDI stage... Has new camaro owners stuck to the Owner's Manual engine break-In procedure (run the engine below 3500rpm for 2600km) Does this actually prelong the engine life-time? or is it better to carry out a Dyno test- full-throttle the rpm at engine break-In. If so, Let me know your Engine Break-In steps to maintain a long-life, higher performance quality of the engine.

Thanx

Ive heard from a few people (not new Camaro owners) but some from the Sherrifs office that when they do a break in, they like to run it as long as possiable to let all the seals, gaskets, and what not to really get a god fit and "get to know each other". I can not testify to it however. I just baby mine.
