No one answered my question. Would it help to run a colder plug in these cars since they are so sensitive to knock? I was just wondering if that would help somewhat.

I hate to open a can of worms here. But here goes...let's say I take a stock untuned car (mine) and datalog and prove that my car is pulling timing with no knock. Would I be in the right to expect the dealer to do something to the car (or the tune) to correct the situation?

Maybe I'm asking..is there any fix for a crap GM tune/setup besides a good tune.

I highly doubt it is a tune problem, when something like this happens it always turns out to be mechanical like examples above.

I agree, after we get enough info and fixes, someone needs to make this a sticky.. Also, if ya think about it, a stock car with stock tune. since the car is getting KR with 93 gas that would make it default to the low octain spark table... that means less power. What do we do, we pull the fuse to reset it, but hay, we are still going to get more KR as soon as we get on the gas. that means we need to pull the fuse all over again... thats a pain in the ass..... I must have pulled my fuse 20 times in a month..... that sucks.... Glad I have a tune now

This is the point of my post(s). My car runs great for ten minutes after I pull the fuses. But between the odd lifter or exhaust leak engine noise I have posted about before, and the occasional GFX exhaust rattle....I'm getting tired of it

Exhaust Rattles will set off knock Sensors and pull timing.

Back to the track tonight. I didn't bring anything to log with but from previous logs I knew Maybe 1 or 2 degrees of KR, Much better than 10 degrees. Much better outting with 109.80 mph, now we are going places.

F5 if you ar having to pull your fuse like I did, i would suggest talking with ted about a tune. you will be able to log the car and see what you have.. then gut the cats, or add long tubes with or with out cats.... check the exhaust and try a differant gas station....

this is really a issue with some of our cars and i dont like it... :(

Thanks...I'm pretty much thinking of getting the SCT from Ted and doing some logging whether I tune or not at this point. I would like to have some proof of exactly what it is doing in order to force the dealer to diagnose some engine noises that they say are normal.

Yes the slight GFX rattle might be part of it, but that only happens once in a while for 2 seconds

The engine has a multiple lifter flutter/slight exhaust leak sound on the right side when under a load and well warmed up. I really believe this is setting off the KR

The car will haul ass for the first 5 minutes it is running. As soon as it's warmed up it is a slug
