I know you got your answer in another thread, but just in case anyone else sees this and is curious....
The stock (OEM) LCA weighs 5.7 lbs. The TCA028 LCA weighs about 7.0 lbs. 1.3 lbs. per side isn't that bad for the amount of increased structural strength you're getting from these TCA028's. The TCA029's will probably weigh a pound or two more because of the large chromoly adjuster nut in the middle. Just my guess....didn't have any unboxed to weigh at the time. |

And yes, you are correct, with the Adjustable TCA029's, you do not absolutely need the adjustable toe rods. Nice to have....Yes!!! But required....No.

Kieth, no problem man. You've been a big help. I'm actually installing my toe rods I just got from you right now. I'm almost done with the install.

I was a little worried about lowering the cradle but as you can see in the pic, it's not that bad. Thanks again Keith!

I just ordered TCA029 since I need more camber in the back. Do I also need adjustable toe rods to make them work correctly?

Just to clarify, can one use TCA029s to increase max negative camber without using an aftermarket toe rod, with no ill effects?

TCA029's will certainly allow you to increase negative camber beyond the limits of the factory eccentrics. And yes, you can use the factory toe rods in combination with the TCA029's, but an aftermarket toe rod (even non-adjustable) would be vast improvement over the factory piece. In my opinion, do it right the first time….get adjustable toe rods. You're going to need an alignment after changing the LCA's, and you'll need another alignment when you change toe rods, might as well do them both at the same time. Now how you choose to use that negative camber and how it affects your car will decide if it will be a positive experience or negative.

I already have the OEM Z/28 toe rods (that came with the suspension kit), though. I'd rather keep it, and just get the control arm for camber. So I presume it would work well with that rod?
I'm going to try aftermarket bolts to get more camber, next week. If it fails, I'll order the control arm. I'd get it right away actually, but I don't want to add weight to the suspension if I don't have to. I've also heard that pedders bolts can let you get to pretty aggressive camber, but I don't know if anyone still sells them, or if there's any similar product. My bolts are SPC/Eibach brand.
